Jake Gyllenhaal is back doing what he loves, supporting smoked fish and New York City. The actor took to Instagram to announce yet another amazing collaboration with the iconic NY fish purveyor Russ & Daughters.
Gyllenhaal sported the latest look in their (hopefully) ongoing line for good. All proceeds from the limited edition sweatshirt, now available on Russ & Daughter’s website for $150, will go towards the Actors Fund, to give back to local theater workers impacted during the pandemic.
The sweatshirt itself, which Gyllenhaal modeled alongside a stunning trash bag of bagels in his Instagram announcement, has the word LOX splashed across the front in gray lettering. “Nothing like a big bag of bagels and LOX!” Gyllenhaal wrote. “I designed a hoodie with my friends at Russ & Daughters, the proceeds from the sale of every hoodie will go to the Actors Fund’s efforts to support NYC theater workers impacted by the pandemic.”

He went to explain that the sweatshirts, which were made in tandem with the non-profit campaign New York Forever, were made locally in New York City using high quality raw material. “When you wear this hoodie,” he wrote, “you’ll be supporting three communities we care about: food, theater, and New York City. You may not know the incredible crew of people that make the theaters run. You may not know how tough the past year and a half has been for them, but I can tell you that nothing in the theater works without them. Help how you can. Buy a sweatshirt if you can, and know that you are supporting the real stars of the show!”

The collaboration comes after Gyllenhaal’s successful partnership with Russ & Daughters last summer, during the early days of lockdown, when he promoted (shirtless, I might add) a limited edition tie-dye shirt whose proceeds went to the Independent Restaurant Coalition.
Buy the Russ & Daughters “LOX” hoodie, and while you’re at it, pick up some salmon, cream cheese and bagels set for the weekend.
